Idiome is a vocabulary app for people who want to speak with more precision. Most apps bury you under word lists forgotten by lunchtime. Idiome does the opposite: one rare, beautiful word each week, and a single mission, using it in real life until it becomes yours.
I designed, built and shipped it on my own, from the first sketch to the App Store and Google Play releases.
No streaks, no points, no badges, no confetti. Each word comes with its meaning, its origin and three concrete situations to use it: at work, in conversation, in writing. A gentle reminder helps slip it into the day, and once the word feels acquired, the next one unlocks.
Every integrated word gets a shareable card, and a home screen widget keeps the word of the week in sight.
One Flutter codebase for iOS and Android, with Riverpod for state management and go_router for navigation. Supabase handles authentication (Sign in with Apple, Google) and content, while Firebase powers push notifications and Crashlytics.
Native touches complete the experience: home screen widgets, text-to-speech pronunciation, image sharing for word cards and in-app review prompts.
Beyond the code, I handled the whole launch: brand and interface design, a Next.js landing page, product analytics with PostHog, App Store and Google Play listings, and release management on both stores.
